Ammonia
Safe-AM
In aquaculture systems, understanding and controlling ammonia is critical, if it excessively accumulated will become toxic to the animal and the system. Toxicity will make the animal lethargic, and cause mortality. Ammonia is a by-product of protein. The main source of ammonia is excretion, feed waste and algal crash. These organic loads will settled in the bottom which produce ammonia by decomposition. Severity of ammonia will be more when the pH (7.5 – 8.2 or more) is more.
